Barrington Area Volunteer Connection (BAVC)
Launched in 2020, the Barrington Area Volunteer Connection (BAVC) was developed following a strategic focus group of civic leaders convened by a Barrington Area Development Council (BADC) board member. Upon confirming the regional demand for a centralized volunteer platform, the concept was presented to the BADC Board of Directors, which formally approved the initiative in partnership with the Barrington Area Library. To ensure a strong operational foundation, BADC extended its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status to the project and appointed two board members to serve on the BAVC Steering Committee from its inception.
Following its launch, BAVC secured a foundational grant from the Barrington Area Community Foundation (BACF), establishing a vital collaborative partnership dedicated to optimizing volunteer recruitment for regional non-profits.
Celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2026, BAVC has successfully engaged approximately 100 area non-profit organizations and registered more than 2,200 individual volunteers. Central to BAVC's mission is encouraging residents to share their time and talents, effectively connecting individuals with meaningful service opportunities while providing an invaluable, streamlined recruitment resource for local non-profits, faith-based institutions, and municipalities.
